My Life, My Passion

With a highly musical family background, Stephanie’s exposure to high-quality musicality began before she could remember. Her first passion was dance as she grew up dancing to her dad’s piano music in her living room. However, in middle school she began singing and loved it. Yet, her passion for jazz wasn’t discovered until high school when her music teacher introduced her to ‘scat singing’ for a choir placement audition. In that audition, she uncovered a hidden ability and fell in love instantly. She sang in two highly competitive high school music groups and won a few awards including Outstanding Soloist at the University of Northern Colorado’s Jazz Festival.

After losing her mom to breast cancer a few years ago, Stephanie discovered the importance of living life to the fullest and her mom’s death propelled her into finally coming to terms with her deep desire to “just sing.” She feels God’s joy and pleasure when she sings jazz, and encourages everyone she meets to find their passion and immerse themselves in it no matter how different it may be. Currently she’s living out her dream singing regularly at restaurants and community events in the Redding area, and looks to the future with hopeful expectation to see what door God will open next.
